Centre for Urban and Territorial Development

September 2014 - Present

The Centre for Urban and Territorial Development was established in 2014 in Romania, by a team of experts with varied backgrounds and experiences, ranging from academic to international consultants and from urban planners to policy and administration experts, as a response to the need of continuous interdisciplinary development and adaptation of the urban and territorial development field at national and European levels.

As one of the founders of the organization I was nominated by the other founders to represent CDUT as President. My contribution to the organization ranges from developing its network of collaborators and contacts to project development & writing and field-specific research.

Independent Consultant & Researcher

Nov 2013 - Present

I decided to open my consultancy office and focus on European Spatial Planning, as in Romania and other countries in the region there is a gap in the specific field that deals with these types of planning issues.

I participated in several national & international projects, including a study on multi-level governance for the European Commission and two cross-border cooperation programmes for the Romanian Ministry of Regional Development.

Affiliated Expert

Romanian Centre for European Policy

March 2013 - April 2016

Shortly after receiving my MA and returning to Romania I started to write several position and briefing papers on European spatial planning issues, which I circulated to interested bodies and published on my blog. As a result, I was approached by the Romanian Centre for European Policy in order to assist them in developing a research project within the area of my expertise.

After this collaboration I became a resident affiliated expert covering territorial development and governance, spatial planning, urban & regional planning.

Urban Attitude SRL

2007 - 2010

I opened the small planning office as a response to the constantly increasing demand for urban planning services in Romania in 2007, as a result of the development boom that started in 2004.

My office was subcontracted for several urban planning and architectural projects for which we developed planning & development solutions, planning permission application drafting & submission, research & analysis for project bids and solution drafting.

My general skill set is eclectic in nature and covers Spatial Planning, Economy, Politics, Public Policy, Governance, Sociology and Technology.

I have a wide skill set in terms of the software packages that I use for research/analysis, writing, editing, and production. I usually play in QGIS, R/Studio, Google Earth/Maps, OpenStreetMap, CorelDraw, Inkscape, Photoshop, Paint.NET, Writemonkey, Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and Foxit Reader.

The use of syntax, programming languages and development environments has become a normal occurrence in social sciences. Because of my tech orientation I took this as an opportunity. At this point in my work I use basic formatting syntax and/or coding as needed, mainly: Markdown, HTML5, CSS3, PHP, R, and sometimes JavaScript, SQL, and XML
